Staff Engineer, Core Infrastructure

This role is based in Sydney, Australia.

Compensation:

A$207,200 - A$310,800/year

What you'll do:

Design, build, and maintain infrastructure for Stripe's services. Lead technical discussions and mentor engineers.

Responsibilities:

• Design, plan, build, and maintain storage/databases, compute, and networking infrastructure.
• Lead technical conversations with infrastructure and backend teams.
• Mentor and grow technical leaders at Stripe.
• Participate in roadmap planning and prioritization.
• Debug production issues across services.
• Work on scaling, automation, reliability, and observability.

Requirements:

• BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent.
• 12+ years of professional software development experience.
• Experience in distributed infrastructure services and cloud providers (AWS/Azure/OCI/Google).
• Experience mentoring engineers.

Tech stack:

MongoDB, PostgreSQL, AWS, Linux, Kubernetes, Terraform.
