Senior Backend Engineer

This role is based in London with a flexible work model that includes both in-office and remote options.

What you'll do:

• Design, build, and operate backend services and platforms that power Spotify’s voice experiences.
• Own production systems end-to-end, from APIs and service orchestration to data flows, observability, and reliability.
• Partner closely with ML and research engineers to productionize models and improve system interfaces.
• Drive technical design for new capabilities and infrastructure.
• Mentor engineers in the squad and share best practices.

Who you are:

• Experienced in building large-scale, distributed backend services.
• Proficient in Python or willing to learn quickly.
• Have owned systems end-to-end, including design, implementation, and deployment.
• Strong product mindset with a focus on user impact.
