The Android Platform team sets the technical direction for Android at Reddit. We design, build and support the Android app for millions of DAUs and the development ecosystem (libraries, frameworks, observability, and build/CI tooling) that every team uses to ship delightful Reddit experiences.

As a Staff Android Engineer on the Android Platform team, you’ll set technical direction and lead cross-team initiatives for a large, multi‑team Android codebase, with a core focus on three pillars: Client Health (Crashes/ANRs/Performance), Developer Experiences, and App Architecture (modern and opinionated). You’ll turn ambiguous platform problems into a multi-quarter roadmap, align engineering partners, and stay hands-on from design and implementation through rollout and adoption.

What you’ll do

  • Lead technical decisions that will scale Reddit’s Android Platform to the next 100M+ DAUs, balancing long-term platform health with product delivery.
  • Drive Developer Experience strategy to accelerate build and test cycles and improve release safety across teams.
  • Architect Android Client Health and Observability foundations (events, traces, dashboards) to empower engineering teams to safeguard performance and reliability.
  • Champion AI supercharged developer and agent workflows.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to senior engineers, elevating engineering standards across teams through architectural reviews, documentation, and technical guidance.

What we expect from you

  • 5+ years software development experience with 3+ years building Android applications, with a track record of leading complex Android initiatives from problem definition through delivery and sustained adoption.
  • Experience setting technical direction and delivering shared platform capabilities in a large Android codebase used by multiple teams and millions of daily active users.
  • Deep expertise in Kotlin, Android lifecycle and concurrency, and modern Android technologies such as Jetpack Compose and Kotlin coroutines, with sound judgment about architectural tradeoffs and migration strategies.
  • Strong background in Android platform/infrastructure work: shared libraries or frameworks, experiments/logging, navigation, startup/session orchestration, or core networking/caching.
  • Strong systems thinking and hands-on problem solving, with evidence of measurable improvements to app reliability, performance, or developer productivity.
  • Ability to influence without formal authority, build consensus across engineering, product, design, and data partners, and communicate technical strategy and tradeoffs clearly.
  • Practical experience applying AI to engineering workflows (code generation, refactoring, static analysis, or CI checks) with clear, measurable benefit.

Benefits:

  • Comprehensive Healthcare Benefits and Income Replacement Programs
  • 401k with Employer Match
  • Global Benefit programs that fit your lifestyle, from workspace to professional development to caregiving support
  • Family Planning Support
  • Gender-Affirming Care
  • Mental Health & Coaching Benefits

Hey, I'm Stan

Software Developer & Creator of Top Jobs Today

I'm a software developer, and over time I realized I cared mostly about roles at big tech companies - not just whatever happened to show up on LinkedIn or generic job boards. But those sources weren't enough - some roles were delayed, or never posted at all.

So I built this website to solve that. It scrapes fresh job postings directly from official company sites, figures out what kind of roles they really are, and sends them as email alerts - simple, fast, and focused.

Hope it makes your search easier too. Wishing you the best of luck - and I'm really glad you're here!
