Principal Cloud Network Engineer

Microsoft is building AI infrastructure at an unprecedented pace, and every new GPU cluster puts more demand on our wide area network. To scale the network 10x, we're hiring a Principal Cloud Network Engineer to provide expert technical leadership at the intersection of large-scale networking, network validation, live-site operations, software engineering, and AI. You'll shape the strategy and architecture for how network operating systems, features, configurations, and operational workflows are tested, deployed, monitored, and continuously improved across a global, multi-vendor environment.

• Define and lead end-to-end network validation strategies across network operating systems, routing features, hardware platforms, configurations, and automation services.
• Architect extensible, vendor-agnostic testing frameworks to validate control-plane convergence, data-plane behavior, failure recovery, scalability, performance, interoperability, upgrade and downgrade safety, and platform stability across multi-vendor networks.
• Provide technical leadership for complex network failures and live-site incidents.

Required Qualifications:

• Doctorate Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 3+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automation.
