Network Engineer, Engineering R&D Environments

This role is based in Menlo Park, CA.
Compensation:
$135,000/year to $191,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
Responsibilities:
- Own end-to-end network design, deployment, and operations for AI and compute lab clusters.
- Serve as the primary networking point of contact for backend fabrics supporting AI workloads.
- Design and support high-throughput, low-latency cluster networking.
- Perform hands-on troubleshooting and root-cause analysis across L1–L4.
- Support silicon, hardware, and software bring-ups.
- Lead lab network lifecycle activities including upgrades and migrations.
- Develop and maintain network automation and configuration templates.
- Create and maintain MOPs, runbooks, and readiness checklists.
- Provide consultation and training to cross-functional partners.
- Collaborate closely with hardware, software, systems, and lab operations teams.
- Support limited travel (about 10%) for critical lab builds.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 6+ years of experience in network infrastructure design and operations.
- Experience in multi-vendor environments including Arista and FBOSS-based platforms.
- Knowledge of IPv4/IPv6, L2/L3 protocols, and scripting languages for automation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Understanding of physical infrastructure design.
- Experience with AI/ML or high-performance compute clusters.
- Networking certifications such as CCIE or JNCIE.
