As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward. In this role, you will partner with the senior leads of Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) security to lead the team to make GKE the most secure platform to run AI/ML workload. You will be driving to deliver the managed Kubernetes platform for running GenAI workloads, offering industry leading security, hardening, driving market share growth, and customer success.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with security engineering, computer and network security and security protocols.
  • 5 years of experience in distributed cloud computing including 3 years of experience in containerization and container orchestration technologies such as Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 5 years of experience with containerization and container orchestration technologies such as Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) at a large-scale.
  • 5 years of experience with standard IT security practices such as identity and access management, data protection, encryption, certificate and key management.
  • 5 years of experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) techniques such as prompt engineering, dual encoders, and embedding vectors.
  • 5 years of experience building prototypes or applications.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms, distributed systems and Google Kubernetes engine along with strong ability to stakeholders manage at executive levels with clear written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Kubernetes security reviews, research and reproduce vulnerabilities.
  • Lead the team in developing secure operational practices, providing engineers with security guidance to mitigate the product's top threats.
  • Partner with Security teams across Google to build out a long-term threat detection strategy for the product.
  • Review designs and look for security gaps, both with one-time reviews and longer term engagement.
