Principal Engineer, Google Chat

Location: Sunnyvale, CA, USA

Compensation:

$294,000-$414,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Responsibilities:

• Set the long-term technical vision and roadmap for Chat's overall architecture.
• Provide expertise in search, indexing, storage, and sync protocols.
• Deliver infrastructure and tooling for high-impact features.
• Mentor senior engineers and foster a culture of technical excellence.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 15 years of experience in software development.
• Experience with large-scale distributed systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD in a related field.
• Experience with Generative AI or ML frameworks.
• Excellent communication skills.
