Senior Engineering Manager - Security Software Engineering

About the team:
The Security Group protects Canva systems and data from security threats, managing programs in Application Security, Risk Management, and Threat Detection.
Responsibilities:
- Manage two teams of software engineers focused on reducing security risks.
- Own the strategy and roadmap for both teams, balancing security and developer experience.
- Coach and develop engineers with regular feedback.
- Oversee the team’s development methodology, ensuring high performance.
- Promote internal adoption of security systems across engineering teams.
Required Experience:
- Experience managing high-performing teams.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals.
- Cross-functional collaboration with software engineering and compliance teams.
- Proficiency in languages such as Golang, Java, or Rust.
- Experience with cloud-based services.
Nice to Haves:
- Experience in application sandboxing, encryption, or vulnerability scanning.
- Understanding of the security products industry.
- Familiarity with infrastructure tools like Terraform or Kubernetes.
- Experience with CI/CD systems.
