This role is based in Melbourne, VIC, Australia.
Responsibilities:
- Managing two small teams of software engineers who design and implement software to reduce risk.
- Owning the strategy and roadmap for both teams, balancing security and developer experience.
- Coaching and developing engineers with regular feedback.
- Owning the team’s development methodology including sprint planning and retrospectives.
- Driving adoption of security systems across Canva engineering teams.
Required Experience:
- Experience managing a high-performing team.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and ability to contribute to complex software architecture.
- Experience partnering with software engineering, SRE/DevOps, and compliance teams.
- Proficiency in languages such as Golang, Java, or Rust.
- Experience in building and operating cloud-based services.
Nice to Haves:
- Experience in a security domain (application sandboxing, encryption, etc).
- Understanding of the security products industry.
- Experience with infrastructure tools like Terraform, Helm, or K8s.
- Experience with CI/CD systems.
