Senior Engineering Manager - Security Platform Engineering

This role is based in Sydney, Australia.

Role Responsibilities:

• Managing two small teams of software engineers who design and implement software to reduce risk.
• Owning the strategy and roadmap for both teams, balancing security and developer experience.
• Coaching and developing engineers through regular feedback.
• Owning the team’s development methodology including sprint planning and retrospectives.
• Driving adoption of systems across Canva engineering teams.

Required Experience:

• Experience managing a high-performing team.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals.
• Experience partnering with software engineering, SRE/DevOps, and compliance teams.
• Proficiency in languages such as Golang, Java, or Rust.
• Experience in building cloud-based services.

Nice to Haves:

• Experience in security domains like application sandboxing or vulnerability scanning.
• Understanding of security products industry.
• Experience with infrastructure tools like Terraform or Kubernetes.
• Experience with CI/CD systems.
