Engineering Manager (BE) - Template Search Quality team (ANZ Remote)

This role is based in Melbourne, VIC, Australia with hybrid work options available.

Responsibilities:

• Leading and growing a high-performing team of backend and machine learning engineers
• Evolving the search architecture that connects users with the perfect template for their next project
• Delivering measurable improvements to search quality across surfaces like homepage and query-based discovery
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end user improvements
• Setting the technical direction for search ranking, experimentation, and platform evolution
• Ensuring excellence in engineering culture, on-call health, and stakeholder alignment

Requirements:

• Experience leading technical teams in complex domains like search, ranking, or machine learning
• Passion for building inclusive, high-performing engineering cultures
• Ability to navigate ambiguity and technical trade-offs in fast-paced environments
• Effective communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Experience in developing others and unlocking new team capabilities
• Strong system-level thinking and curiosity to understand underlying systems
