This role is based in Beijing, China.
Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain reliable, scalable backend services that support Canva’s generative AI experiences in China.
- Design and implement APIs, service integrations, and internal abstractions for AI-powered product capabilities.
- Integrate backend systems with global and local AI services.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver high-quality AI experiences.
- Participate in code reviews and maintain a high-quality engineering culture.
Requirements:
- Proficiency in Java and backend development fundamentals.
- Experience building scalable backend services in production.
- Strong focus on code quality and performance.
- Collaborative mindset and growth-oriented.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure and interest in generative AI is a plus.
