Internship, Sensor Hardware Design Engineer, Self-Driving (Winter/Spring 2026)

This internship is based in Palo Alto, California and is expected to start in January 2026, lasting through the Winter/Spring term.

Compensation:

$20.00 - $55.00/hour + benefits

Responsibilities:

  • Drive the design and execution of sensing subsystems including schematic design and PCB layout.
  • Support cross-functional sensor design discussions and translate them into design documents.
  • Use EDA tools for defining electrical components and supervise board design files.
  • Collaborate with supply chain teams and ensure components meet performance and manufacturing requirements.
  • Debug hardware and software interactions from prototyping through product launch.

Requirements:

  • Pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
  • Knowledge of analog & digital circuits, sensor physics, and statistics.
  • Experience with circuit board design, preferably using Altium.
  • Programming skills in MATLAB/Simulink, Python, and/or C/C++ are preferred.
  • Strong understanding of lab equipment and hardware development processes.
