PhD Fall Machine Learning Intern (ATG — Visual, Multimodal, and Recommender Systems)

This role is based in San Francisco, Palo Alto, Seattle, or New York, with options for remote work.

Compensation:

$12,100/month

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and launch new user features using ML techniques.
  • Gain hands-on experience with production ML systems.
  • Conduct research applicable to Pinterest's engineering teams.
  • Write clean, efficient, and sustainable code.

Requirements:

  • Pursuing a PhD in Computer Science, ML, or related field.
  • Experience with at least one systems language (Java, C++, Python) and one ML framework (TensorFlow, PyTorch).
  • Ability to work full time (40 hours/week) from September to December 2026.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Publications in machine learning or related fields.
  • Strong passion for research and applied ML.
