Software Engineer, Full-Stack — Developer Experience

This role is based in San Francisco and Seattle.

Compensation:

$210K – $490K/year + Offers Equity

Responsibilities:

  • Own major product areas end-to-end: problem discovery, UX iteration, technical design, implementation, rollout, and ongoing improvements.
  • Partner closely with engineers and internal stakeholders to understand pain points and translate them into simple, effective UI/UX for core developer workflows.
  • Integrate and iterate on AI-empowered DevEx that balances capability vs simplicity/control.
  • Set a high bar for performance, reliability, and usability, providing a world-class product experience for every engineer at OpenAI.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of professional engineering experience building user-facing products.
  • Strong frontend engineer or full-stack engineer with deep UI instincts, and modern web fundamentals (TypeScript, React, component design, state management).
  • Experience building internal tools, enterprise tools, or workflow-heavy products for technical users.
