Infrastructure Engineering Manager, Forward Deployed Engineering

This role is based in San Francisco, New York City, or London and is not a travel role. We use a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week.

Compensation:

$302K – $335K + Offers Equity

Responsibilities:

• Build and lead the FDE Infra function, setting the operating model and team development.
• Operate as a player-coach, owning architecture patterns and stepping into complex deployment work.
• Define reusable deployment baselines for single-tenant FDE applications.
• Guide deployment strategy across OpenAI-hosted and customer-hosted environments.
• Partner with core infrastructure, Security, Privacy, and AppSec teams.
• Engage with customer-side technical and security stakeholders.

Requirements:

• 8+ years of engineering experience, including 2+ years in management.
• Strong hands-on infrastructure judgment across cloud environments and security controls.
• Experience building reusable capabilities under ambiguity.
• Excellent communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Player-coach leadership style with a focus on team building.
