Research Scientist Intern, MSL Infra Kernels & Optimizations (PhD)

This internship is based in London, UK.

Responsibilities:

• Explore, prototype, and productionize optimized ML kernels for Meta’s AI workloads.
• Co-design and optimize parallelisms and compute efficiency for large-scale training systems.
• Investigate improvements to algorithms and tooling across multiple accelerator types.
• Benchmark and analyze AI workloads to provide feedback for future hardware and model designs.
• Collaborate with AI & Systems Co-design to guide Meta’s AI hardware strategy.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a PhD in Computer Science, Computer Vision, Generative AI, NLP, or a related field.
• Specialized experience in GPU architectures, ML compilers, or ML systems.
• Experience in developing AI infrastructure or algorithms in C/C++ or Python.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Intent to return to degree program after the internship.
• Experience with large-scale deep learning models.
• Knowledge of Generative AI models or distributed ML systems.
