This internship is based in Sunnyvale, CA, with a duration of 12 to 24 weeks.

Compensation:

$7,313/month to $12,134/month + benefits

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with researchers and cross-functional partners, effectively communicating research plans, progress, and results.
  • Contribute to product research or development, presenting findings applicable to future Meta products.
  • Develop next generation AR displays or components, focusing on advanced simulations and experimental optics prototyping.
  • Explore applications of wave optics, polarization optics, diffraction optics, and metasurfaces to AR displays.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a PhD in Optical Science, Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a relevant field.
  • 2+ years of experience in nanophotonics, diffractive optics, wave optics, or computational optics.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., C++, MATLAB, Python).
  • Intent to return to the degree program after the internship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with optical simulation methods and photonic modeling software.
  • Proven track record of significant results through publications or patents.
