Senior Staff Software Engineer, Android Growth Systems and App Foundations

This role is based in London, UK.

Responsibilities:

• Provide technical leadership on high-impact projects.
• Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
• Partner with cross-functional partners to build consensus on an app-level and drive its engineering implementation.
• Transform the Android Google App into the leading app experience on Android.
• Leverage AI development tools to optimize daily workflows.

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development.
• 7 years of experience with Android application development.
• 5 years of experience with design and architecture; and testing/launching software products.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
• 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
• 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
• Experience with modern Android development: Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Material Design.
• Familiarity with debugging performance-related issues.
