Commodity Managers work with Engineering teams to make sure Google has the supplies and equipment to put into production the innovative products coming from our Engineering teams. As a Commodity Manager, you use your wide industry knowledge and strategic supplier relationships to optimize our total cost of ownership for our global -- and growing -- infrastructure.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering field or equivalent practical experience.
- 7 years of experience in procurement and supply chain management.
- Experience in commodity management, global procurement, or sourcing for board-mounted power modules (e.g., POL converters, VRMs, IBCs, or PMICs), including contract negotiation and supplier development.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree or MBA in a technical or engineering field.
- Experience with power electronic components, printed circuit boards, surface mount technologies and associated manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of board mounted power devices, including VPDs (Vertical Power Delivery), and IBCs (Intermediate Bus Converter) modules.
- Technical understanding of existing and evolving architectures of board mounted power devices.
Responsibilities
- Lead sourcing strategy and collaborate with engineering on early engagement, aligning supplier roadmaps for VPD and IBC modules.
- Manage multiple suppliers and programs, negotiating complex agreements to achieve favorable pricing, terms, and scalable supply assurance.
- Direct cross-functional teams through supplier selection for new platforms, balancing innovation, speed-to-market, cost, quality, and delivery.
- Oversee critical supply chain operations, including production schedules, capacity planning, and operational flexibility while reporting status and risks to executive leadership.
- Monitor supplier performance and mitigate continuity risks via regular business reviews, leveraging deep market intelligence to optimize procurement strategies.
