Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software engineering.
  • 5 years of experience managing software engineering teams.
  • Experience with systems design and distributed systems.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience architecting and developing software for scalable, distributed systems.
  • Experience with debugging distributed software systems.
  • Experience with networking technologies/concepts such as software defined networking (SDN).
  • Proficiency in data structures, algorithms and complexity analysis.
  • Understanding of internet routing technologies and router/switch telemetry.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a high-performing team of software engineers.
  • Provide technical guidance to the team as they design, develop, integrate and test the features for B4 availability, scaling, NPIs.
  • Prioritize work and ensure that incremental progress is made even if the problems at hand are difficult to solve in a short period of time.
  • Help team members and partner teams understand the broader context, and solve the right problems at the right time.
  • Be comfortable with changes in the execution plan if they are enabling the right impact for Google.
