This role is based in San Francisco, CA, with hybrid work options available.

Compensation:

$280,000 - $330,000/year

Responsibilities:

  • Lead high-impact research initiatives for foundational models in AI.
  • Design and execute experiments to validate hypotheses and optimize model behavior.
  • Translate theoretical research into production-ready implementations.
  • Collaborate with ML Engineers to integrate models into Canva’s product ecosystem.

Requirements:

  • Expertise in machine learning and foundational model development, especially in generative AI.
  • Experience with video synthesis and audio generation models.
  • Strong publication record or evidence of research impact.
  • Ability to turn complex ideas into tangible outcomes.
