Staff Machine Learning Engineer - Integrations & Solutions Group (AU remote)

This role is based in Melbourne, Australia, with remote work options available.

Responsibilities:

• Drive the design and evolution of AI-ready tools and APIs for LLM platforms.
• Own and evolve evaluation frameworks to measure tool-use accuracy.
• Shape Canva's agent architecture and make strategic technical decisions.
• Define and build observability systems for AI assistants.
• Work across teams to identify and solve integration problems.
• Influence integration strategy with AI partners.

Requirements:

• Experience shipping LLM-powered systems and quantifying impact.
• Proactive problem-solving skills.
• End-to-end ownership of evaluation pipelines.
• Ability to set technical standards.
• Proficiency in Python and familiarity with ML frameworks, TypeScript/Node.js, and cloud infrastructure.
• Strong cross-team collaboration skills.
• Comfortable with ambiguity and fast-paced environments.
