Senior Research Engineer - Video Generative AI

About the role:

As a Senior Research Engineer, you will develop and integrate advanced machine learning tools to enhance user experiences at Canva.

Responsibilities:

• Partner with Research Scientists on multimodal generative AI research.
• Port experimental Python code to scalable solutions.
• Design and implement model architectures for design generation.
• Build sustainable ML pipelines for production environments.
• Optimize models for efficiency across distributed systems.
• Maintain high-quality datasets for multimodal learning.
• Investigate production incidents through root cause analysis.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build impactful solutions.

Requirements:

• Experience with generative AI models like Diffusion Models, GANs, or Transformers.
• Knowledge of large-scale distributed training and infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of ML principles and experience with PyTorch.
• Solid engineering practices including CI/CD workflows.
• Ability to thrive in ambiguity and drive complex initiatives.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
