Senior Machine Learning Engineer - Canva AI (ANZ remote)

About the role:

As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer, you will help reimagine user interactions with Canva by developing AI-driven features and systems.

Responsibilities:

• Build a flexible conversational AI platform for diverse use cases.
• Fine-tune and evaluate LLM-based models for improved performance.
• Contribute to both ML and backend systems engineering.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful AI features.
• Mentor other Machine Learning Engineers.

Requirements:

• Strong action bias and product-minded engineering approach.
• Hands-on experience with production code, including Java Backend.
• Deep experience in building ML-powered products, especially in conversational AI.
• Ability to influence roadmap decisions in ambiguous environments.

Location:

This role is hybrid, allowing flexibility in work location within Australia or New Zealand.
