Senior Frontend Engineer - Web Engine (Video Platform)

This role is based in Melbourne, Australia.

What you'll do:

• Own high-quality, frame-accurate video and audio playback on Canva’s web platform
• Design and evolve the core architecture for scalable web playback
• Build performance-critical systems beyond typical frontend abstractions
• Drive resilient rendering and playback experiences across browsers and devices
• Lead adoption of next-generation playback technologies
• Partner with product, editor, and platform teams
• Improve playback quality and reliability for millions of users

Requirements:

• Deep expertise in JavaScript at a systems level
• Experience building video, audio, graphics, or game-like systems in the browser
• Understanding of rendering pipelines, frame timing, and animation systems
• Comfortable with canvas, workers, WebGL, WebAssembly, or multimedia APIs
