Senior Frontend Engineer - Video Web Engine (Open to remote across ANZ)

This role is based in Darwin, NT, Australia with remote work options available across ANZ.

What you'll do:

• Own high-quality, frame-accurate video and audio playback on Canva’s web platform
• Design and evolve core architecture for scalable web playback
• Build performance-critical systems beyond typical frontend abstractions
• Drive resilient rendering and playback experiences across browsers and devices
• Lead adoption of next-generation playback technologies
• Partner with product, editor, and platform teams
• Improve playback quality and reliability for millions of users

Requirements:

• Deep expertise in JavaScript at a systems level
• Experience building video, audio, or game-like systems in the browser
• Understanding of rendering pipelines and animation systems
• Comfortable with canvas, workers, WebGL, and modern multimedia APIs
