Senior Frontend Engineer - Video Web Engine (Open to remote across ANZ)

Location: Auckland, New Zealand

What you’ll do:

• Own high-quality, frame-accurate video and audio playback on Canva’s web platform
• Design and evolve the core architecture for scalable web playback
• Build performance-critical systems beyond typical frontend abstractions
• Drive resilient rendering and playback experiences across browsers and devices
• Lead the adoption of next-generation playback technologies
• Improve playback quality, observability, and reliability for millions of users

You’re probably a match if you:

• Have deep expertise in JavaScript at a systems level
• Have experience building video, audio, graphics, or game-like systems in the browser
• Understand rendering pipelines and animation systems
• Are comfortable with canvas, WebGL, WebAssembly, or modern multimedia APIs
• Care about performance and scalable browser architectures
