Senior Engineering Manager (BE/ML) - Context & Personalisation

This role is based in Sydney, Australia with hybrid work options available.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and coach a multidisciplinary team of backend and machine learning engineers.
• Define and deliver the strategy and roadmap for Canva’s centralised context platform.
• Develop capabilities like AI Memory and brand-aware AI generation.
• Design scalable APIs for internal teams to build AI-powered experiences.
• Drive adoption of context and personalisation capabilities across Canva’s ecosystem.
• Grow a high-performing engineering team and foster collaboration.

Requirements:

• Experience in engineering leadership with platform systems or developer infrastructure.
• Strong technical depth combined with product thinking.
• Experience in AI, machine learning, or data-driven platforms.
• Comfortable in high-ambiguity, fast-moving environments.
• Passionate about developing engineers and building high-performing teams.
