Engineering Manager - Native Video Engine

This role is based in Sydney, Australia.

Responsibilities:

• Leading a team building Canva’s Native Video Engine (NVE) for video playback, export, and editing.
• Driving strategy and execution across high-performance video rendering systems.
• Partnering with various teams to deliver scalable video capabilities.
• Supporting the evolution of video infrastructure.
• Building a strong engineering culture focused on technical excellence.
• Helping engineers grow through coaching and mentoring.
• Improving engineering quality through performance monitoring and testing practices.

Requirements:

• Experience leading engineering teams in complex technical environments.
• Strong technical judgment and communication skills.
• Experience with video creation workflows and rendering systems.
• Ability to create clarity in ambiguous environments.
• Passion for building inclusive and high-performing engineering cultures.
• Nice to have: experience with video processing, media pipelines, and cross-platform build systems.
