Photonic Design Engineer Intern - Summer 2026

This internship is based in Santa Clara, CA.

Compensation:

$30-$94/hour

Responsibilities:

  • Develop novel integrated photonic devices for optical interconnect and sensing.
  • Conduct chip layout design, checking, and device evaluation.
  • Perform prototype construction and testing.
  • Develop measurement methodologies for device characterization.
  • Respond to client requests as needed.

Requirements:

  • Pursuing a PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience with silicon-based opto-electronics and photonics.
  • Knowledge of high-speed optical modulators, lasers, and testing methods.
  • Familiarity with simulation tools like Ansys Lumerical, MATLAB, and Python.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Lab experience in silicon evaluation and high-speed testing.
  • Understanding of modern CMOS fabrication processes.
